T he Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command, have apprehended an 18 -year-old boy,  Segun Adeyefa, for allegedly selling bar of soap as mobile phones to unsuspecting members of public in traffic.  The suspect was arrested by the RRS men on routine patrol of Ikorodu Motor Park yesterday at about 19:50  hrs, while trying to defraud a young man at the motor park. Upon his arrival at RRS’s Headquarters, the suspect confessed that before he was caught  on Tuesday , he had duped one person of N3,500 who wanted to buy the phone. He noted that he was lured into the fraud after he was duped through a similar means about a year ago. "My action was prompted when I was swindled by two guys about a year ago by this way. I had intention of buying a phone but unknowingly to me it was a cut-to-size bar of soap just looked similar to a phone shape... The two guys approached me on my way to wo

In Saudi Arabia there's a law that places atheists and atheistic beliefs as 'terrorism', hence a man who tweeted that he was an atheist has been fined £4,000 and sentenced to 10 years in jail with 2000 lashes of the cane by a high court in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia's Islamic police found over 600 tweets by the 28 year old man denying the existence of God, ridiculing Koranic verses, accusing all prophets of lies and saying their teaching fueled hostilities, and after the Islamic court gave him all this punishments the man has refused to 'repent' saying he only aired his beliefs and he still stands by them. A video which is making the round on social media shows a man being roughed up by a woman said to be his wife, along a crowded street in Nairobi, Kenya. According to Mpasho News, the man had 'disappeared' for a whole weekend, his phone had also been switched off for the two days that he was away from their house in Mathare. This prompted his wife to confront him at the ever busy Tom Mboya street before attacking him. The woman is seen punching him while hurling unprintable insults at him in addition to accusing him of infecting her with sexually transmitted diseases. The man, surprisingly chose not to retaliate. He instead walked away with the crowd mocking him for being a weak man. The man said that he was arrested on Friday 26th August as he was on his way home and was detained at Central Police Station for the whole weekend and was only released on that morning. Despite the ongoing military “Operation Crocodile Smile” in the Niger Delta region, an Urhobo militant group, Niger Delta Greenland Justice Movement, NDGJM, in the early hours of today, blew up the Ogor-Oteri major delivery line, operated by the Nigeria Petroleum Development Company and Shorelines Petroleum in the state. The Lagos Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old security guard, Ossai Sylvester, for allegedly s*xually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in the Victoria Island area of the state. Sylvester, who was employed to guard a private apartment on Teslim Elias Close, was arrested on Monday by the Victoria Island Police Division for allegedly sucking the bre*st of the victim, who is also his employer’s daughter. A police source said that the suspect also inserted his finger into the private parts of the 10-year-old, before the employer caught him. He told Punch that, “The incident happened at about 11.30pm on Saturday. The guard allegedly lured the girl to a secluded spot in the house and sucked her bre*st. The management of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), said in Abuja on Wednesday that it had attained new peak of 4,810.7 megawatts of generated electricity. This is contained in a statement signed by the Managing Director, System/Market Operation of TCN, Mr Dipak Sarma and given to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The statement said this was achieved at 20.45 hours of Aug. 25 following a record set on Tuesday when 4748megawatt was generated. It said these successes were due to the joint contributions of the gas companies, generation companies, distribution companies and the TCN. According to the statement, the Managing Director of TCN, Mr Paul Stefiszyn, said: “The Federal Government has been supportive in coordinating the activities of the sector across the value chain.’’ It stated that the sector now aimed at achieving 5,000 megawatts in a short time, adding that this would be an important milestone for the nation’s economy. Doctors at Ho Chi Minh City’s Children’s Hospital, Vietnam has successfully removed the turtle-shell-like mole from the back of a 10-year old girl after a 3-hour surgery on Monday, August 29.   The hospital’s vice director, Dao Trung Hieu, said the girl, Tran Thi Ngoc Tham of Soc Trang province, who suffers from congenital melanocytic nevus has recovered after the surgery. He said the mole weighs 1.05 kg and measures 22 cm in diameter. After its removal, doctors covered the area with skin grafted from the girl’s thigh. Six doctors and five medical workers were involved in the surgery. Tham’s mother, Thach Thi Da Ni, 34, said she was born with the birthmark measuring the size of “a mandarin orange”, and it has been growing over the years.
