The Lagos State Prisons Command has graduated 29 inmates under its “ONESIMUS Project” designed to teach them life skills preparatory to their release and eventual re-integration into the society.

The “ONESIMUS Project” is under the Kirikiri Medium Prisons, Lagos, which held its joint 7th Graduation and 8th Matriculation Ceremony yesterday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme has the Covenant University and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria as collaborators.

$1.1billion Fraud: British Judge questions Jonathan’s integrity, stops Etete from getting N17 billion A British Judge on Tuesday refused to release $85 million (N17 billion) to Malabu, a fraudulent company controlled by Nigeria’s former petroleum minister, Dan Etete. In refusing to release the money to Malabu, Justice Edis of the Southwark Crown Court declared that he was not sure the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan acted in Nigeria’s interest when it approved the transfer of the money to Malabu. “I cannot simply assume that the FGN which was in power in 2011 and subsequently until 2015 rigorously defended the public interest of the people of Nigeria in all respects,” the judge ruled. Following the arrest of three suspects in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State on Tuesday, who were found with two fresh human hearts, the police have said they are searching for more suspects who have possibly specialised in harvesting human body parts for rituals in the state. The arrested suspects – Nurudeen Adeniyi (34), Tunde Banjo (29), Temitope Alaba (20), and Tobi Olukoya (20), who are now in the custody of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Abeokuta, said they were simply contracted to supply the hearts. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, said investigation on the case at the moment, was directed at determining if there were other suspects, who specialise in the same crime supplying human parts.
